An epiphite endemic to Madagascar, this species is heavily associated with descriptions by Charles Darwin. It has a symbiotic relationship with the moths in it's native region that have developed significantly long proboscis. This way they are able to collect nectar from the specially shaped elongated floral spurs while simultaneously pollinating the flower. This documentation was part of the foundation of Darwin's theory of co-evolution.

This batch is mature blooming size, but not currently in spike.*

Care

Orchids such as this one will like a bright indirect light (they will not flower in lower light conditions!). They will also like warmer spring and summer conditions to encourage blooming. We recommend watering once the medium starts to feel a little dry, which may roughly be about every 7-10 days. You will want to cut back your watering in the colder months and let orchids go slightly dryer.

All of our plants are ethically sourced from certified U.S. nurseries. We strongly condemn the poaching of plants or wild collection.
